Taps Sound for Chaplain Col. Boyd Fallwell

Chief of Chaplains of the Veterans of America Honorguard - Chaplain Colonel Boyd E. Fallwell

This blog is dedicated to an awesome man who gave selflessly for 15 years of his life serving the families of departed American Veterans by conducting military honors for 1,327 men and woman who served this great country to preserve our freedom.

Day is done

Gone the sun

From the Lakes

From the hills

From the sky.

All is well

Safely rest

God is nigh.

Fading light

Dims the sight

And a star

Gems the sky

Gleaming bright.

From afar

drawing nigh.

Falls the night.

Thanks and praise

For our days

Neath the sun

Neath the stars

As we go.

This we know,

God is nigh.

Falls the night.

On February 5, 2007, at Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma, taps sounded for Chaplain Colonel Boyd E. Fallwell. He passed from this earth on January 31, 2007, to his heavenly reward with his Supreme Commander - our Father God. Boyd loved the Lord Jesus, his family, the United States of America, and "old glory" - the flag of this great Nation! He served his country well and I know he heard these words when he came face to face with God, "Well done, thy good and faithful servant!"

Final honors and salutes were given to this wonderful man just as he gave to so many other departed veterans hundreds of times.

Thanks so very much to all of you who have written wonderful words about my dear precious brother, Boyd. A special guest book is set up for him by the Oklahoman newspaper. You may view it at this website: http://www.legacy.com/Link.asp?I=GB000086282386

Boyd's website may be visited at: http://www.honorguard.org

A very special "thank you" to my nephew, Michael, Teri's son and Jimmy's grandson, who captured these awesome photos at the Ft. Sill National Cemetery during the service honoring Chaplain Col. Boyd E. Fallwell.

  • What a wonderful tribute to Boyd you put together and I know he would be so proud of it and, I figure he knows about it and is smiling down at you. What a way to go out of this world living a way as Boyd did and doing what he did best in making sorrow a little easier for the many families of the Service men. A Big Salute to you Boyd from your cousin....Gladys Decker Buckner

  • Mary, I know that this was not easy for you to do, just as it was not easy to read, but our big brother would be so very proud of his little sister. Gladys is so right. Boyd is certainly smiling down on you. I love you Mary.
