JACOB'S GRADUATION

My Grandson, Jacob, recently graduated from Kindergarten. It was the really neat to watch these little kids proudly receive their diplomas.
Before the graduation ceremonies, they entertained us with a 50's dance. The little girls were so darling in their little "poodle skirts"! Some of the boys had their hair in a "flat top" with their blue jeans rolled up at the cuff. It was the cutest thing! The closest two kids are Jacob and his little partner doing the twist!
All the kids really showed out! Jacob's Daddy, Mark, and sister, Emily, are really proud of him!

His Mom and Grandparents are really proud of Jacob, too!

CONGRATULATIONS, JACOB!

WE LOVE YOU!!

Meet My Grandkid's New Pets - HERMIE & GODZILLA

My grandkids came to spend the day with me yesterday to get ready for a birthday party for their Mother. My son-in-law, Mark, informed me that the had two new pets. When he told me they were hermit crabs, I couldn't believe it. I didn't know that anyone could have hermit crabs for pets. I thought they lived in the ocean, but he informed me that they were dry-land creatures. Much to my amazement, they were kind of cute in a different sort of way. For those of you who may not know about hermit crabs, they are born without a shell and find an empty shell to live in to protect themselves. As they grow, they pick a bigger shell to house themselves, so they move several times in their lifetime.
Here is Emily with her new pet, Hermie. Hermie seems to really show out when Emily holds him!Jacob named his pet, Godzilla! Godzilla seemed timid and was hiding quite a bit during the day, but he really showed out last night! Mark said that hermit crabs were nocturnal creatures.

LOOK AT GODZILLA, HE'S ALMOST OUT OF HIS SHELL!I THINK HERMIE MUST BE A GIRL SHE PICKED A BEAUTIFUL PINK SHELL FOR HER HOME. EMILY SAID SHE ACTUALLY CHANGED HER OLD SHELL FOR THIS NEWER ONE LAST WEEK.

JACOB & EMILY REALLY LOVE THEIR NEW PETS! JACOB SAYS HE WANTS A SNAKE FOR HIS NEXT NEW PET!! OH, MY GOODNESS!! WHATEVER HAPPENED TO WANTING DOGS AND CATS FOR PETS?!?

As for our daughter's birthday party, it went over quite well. Tresha turned 33 years old. We baked her a chocolate cake (her favorite) and Emily and Jacob put 33 candles on it. Tresha blew them out with no problem. Good lungs^^^^^and a little help from her kids!! (Jacob was a big help today. He loves to wash dishes and got his shirt wet so he pulled it off. It was a hot day today, 93 degrees, so no problem getting cold!)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TRESHA, WE LOVE YOU!

Graceland in Memphis - 1982

When my sister, Betty, and I visited Memphis in 1982, we also toured Graceland. Graceland was so different back then in comparison to the way it has become today. The thing I remember most is that no one talked above a whisper in the house. The feeling was that everyone was quiet out of reverence for Elvis. He died just a few short years before, but it still seemed very recent. Also, we were there on the anniversary of his death. Graceland was opened to the public by Priscilla Presley on June 7, 1982, so Betty and I were among the first visitors touring Graceland.
This little car that Betty is pictured with was in the back yard at Graceland, along with the pink Cadillac that Elvis bought for his mother. They are now in a museum across the street from Graceland.

These photos are of flowers that were sent to Graceland in memory of Elvis. Flowers were everywhere in Memphis and especially at Graceland around Elvis' grave site.
Because of vandalism, Elvis' grave, along with the graves of his twin brother, his mother and father, and a grandmother are located on the grounds at Graceland.

The above photo of Elvis was in my scrapbook of memorabilia and photos of our trip.

Here's a silhouette of Betty kissing Elvis!

I really loved this painting of Elvis and Priscilla. I don't remember seeing it in Graceland last week. So much has changed there in the past twenty-four years. There are museums everywhere around Graceland and many of the things we saw at Graceland in 1982 are these museums.
