21st Wedding Anniversary - June 2nd

I just wanted to thank all of you who sent cards and greetings for our 21st Wedding Anniversary yesterday. Ken & I really appreciate you for thinking of us.

Here is a fairly recent picture of Ken and I taken in 2003.

Here are some more pictures of our wedding 21 years ago. (The previous blog has more of our wedding pictures on it.) I hope you enjoy the pictures.

We had a beautiful wedding. Here is a picture of our complete wedding party. We each had three attendants who were very close friends of ours. We also had a flower girl and a ring bearer. The two men pictured just above Ken were our pastors. My mother made my dress and some of the bridesmaid's dresses.

Ken & Mary's Wedding-June 2, 1985

Ken and I celebrated our 21st Wedding Anniversary yesterday. Since I'm so crazy about old photos, I thought I would get out our Wedding Album and scan a few of the pictures to share with you. We had a beautiful wedding at the church where we met in about 1980.

Look at Ken's beard! He had worn this beard about 14 years. A few months after we got married, he obtained a job with the Marriott Hotel and had to shave his beard. I had never seen him without a beard and neither had his daughter, as she was only 12 years old when we got married. It was such a shock, I thought I had a stranger in my house for awhile!! He looked so very different!!

My brother, Lester, walked me down the aisle during the wedding ceremony.

All of our children were in the wedding. My daughter (Karen) played the piano. Karen's husband (Brian), Ken's sons (Bryan & Craig), and my son (Steve) were ushers. Ken's daughter (Tresha) was a candle lighter. My grandson (Justin) was the ring bearer and his little sister (Andrea) just ran around looking cute!

Here we are with my brothers and sisters: Mildred, Jimmy, Rowena, Boyd (with his wife, Pat), Lester, and Retha. (Betty was unable to attend the wedding.)
Some of our friends decorated by little blue Buick Skylark.

Here we go on our honeymoon!!

Honoring Chaplain Lt. Col. Boyd Fallwell

As we honor all the men and women who have kept our country free, I would like to pay honor to a very special veteran who serves the families of American veterans who have departed from this life to their eternal destiny. Chaplain Lt. Col. Boyd E. Fallwell is of the American Volunteer Reserve, Veterans of America Honorguard, and is one of the most brave and dedicated men I know. Since 1991 he has given military honors at the funerals of approximately 1300 veterans. Boyd takes his job very seriously and is a great comfort to the families and friends of the departed veterans. Besides given military honors, he sometimes presides over the entire funeral giving the Word of God and encouragement to the family.

Chaplain Lt. Col. Fallwell has been given many awards for his selfless service to many. Last year he was presented the Good Samaritan Award by the Salvation Army and Kirkpatrick Bank in Oklahoma City honored him as an American hero and put up several billboards in his honor.

Boyd has his own website where he publishes memorial pages of the veterans for which he gives military honors. You may visit his website at:

Thank you Chaplain Lt. Col. Boyd Fallwell for a job well done!!
