I just created another blog to put photos on at http://melonellen888.spaces.live.com. Retha has a space on this website. This space allows me to put lots of photos and it is sure easier than blogspot to upload photos. Go to this space to see the photos of the January 2007 Ice Storm.

Ice Storm At My House

This has been a week that will be remembered forever! This ice storm has been devastating to many. Many home and businesses are still without electricity, telephone, heat, and many other necessities. I thank God that we have had electrical power most of these seven days. We ran out of propane last night, but we are doing okay. We have an electric heater running. The power has been going off and on all day, so I hope it stays on through the night. It is cold in the house (60 degrees) so we are bundled up in sweats and sweaters. Our telephone was restored today along with the internet service.

I chased down the propane man today and he said he would bring us some propane tomorrow afternoon. I felt so sorry for him, he was absolutely exhausted. He is an older man and has survived two heart attacks. I told him he should not be out in this weather doing the work he had to do, but he said someone had to do it. His name is Lenny, please pray for him and all the other people who are working 24-7 trying to restore utilies and deliver propane to hundreds of house without heat.

Here are some photos of my house and yard:

The line drapped down with the icycles on it is our telephone line. Ken and Mark pulled this tree limb off of it. My phone was without service within about two hours after that branch hit the line. That was several days ago, my service was just restored today!
The icycles were everywhere. This is a shot just above my kitchen window and the roof over my screened-in porch.

This was my driveway last Sunday. Many limbs have fallen since then, but Ken has been able to pull them out of the drive.

I parked my car out by the road hoping to keep it clear of falling branches. One hit the hood of the car and slid off in front, but I don't believe the car has been damaged. I won't know for sure until I am able to wash the mud off of it.

I actually took this picture on our TV set. I was surprised it came out so clear. They were predicting 1 degrees for last Tuesday night in Tulsa. It didn't get that cold here, but I believe they said it was about 10 degrees. Cold enough for sure!!

This was our my back window looking toward the neighbors back yard on the right. He does not have as many trees in the middle of the yard as we do. See all of the downed branches on the left--that's how our entire yard looked last Sunday. It is much worse now as many more branches have fallen. I have many more pictures to post maybe later tonight or tomorrow.

We want to thank everyone for their prayers. We are blessed!! Keep praying for those who do not have heat and electricity as they say we have another storm coming in tonight.
